The Tuileries Palace was originally planned by Catherine de Medici and was a gorgeous and immense royal palace on the right bank of the Seine until burned in 1871.  Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were sequestered here during the French Revolution. The gorgeous Tuileries Gardens remain and even to this day resemble their original design!
